To add extra lustre to the ornaments and light projects, one can also experience the route via a free Audio Tour. Roadmap edition 2024 De Lichtjesroute

Another “benchmark” during the construction of our Route of Lights is the publication of the route map on our website and other social media. Online, you can then view where ornaments and light projects are located in this year's route and which ornaments are new to the route. Keep an eye on our social media to know when the 2024 route map will be available!

Bike night - Saturday, Sept. 21

Traditionally, the first Saturday that all the lights are on is our annual Bike Night. The idea behind this is that you see and enjoy more on a bike and it is also 'nice and green'. At three prominent locations within the route, the effects of our ornaments and light projects are enhanced by live music. Visitors and performing musicians alike enjoy themselves time and again during this evening. The musicians will perform between 19:00-22:00. Unfortunately, no wheelstour in 2024

Doubts in the insurance terms for old army vehicles have made the board of De Lichtjesroute - together with Club Wheels - decide - that unfortunately there will be no evenings at De Lichtjesroute this year where a tour with these army vehicles is a part of it. We continue to look for solutions for the coming years.

De Lichtjesroute is 40 years old!

This year, in 2024, it will be 40 years since four enthusiasts decided to revive the old Lichtjesroute. In their search, fortunately some old, original ornaments from yesteryear were found and they rolled up their sleeves to invent, design and implement new ornaments. Of course they could not and did not do this alone: soon more volunteers joined in and to this day many of them are still active within our foundation.

Some ornaments don't turn on until 8pm!

Note! A large part of the ornaments will not be switched on until the street lights come on. This means that in September these ornaments will not turn on at the same time as the rest of the projects (7pm). Unfortunately, we cannot control this ourselves, as it switches on automatically when it gets dark. To see the whole route illuminated, we recommend leaving after 8pm or planning your visit in the first week of October. In October, it is dark earlier and the street lights are on as early as 7pm.
